Ping'An
A resident follows a pony carrying bricks from the valley below. A flurry of building projects in the village ensures there is a steady traffic along the steep mountain paths. The majority of new buildings are small guesthouses, built with profits from the previous summer. In the summer months, the area swarms with visitors on a day visit from the provincial capital of Guilin. Canon EOS 30D, 17-40mm f4 lens.

A villager carries charcoal to Ping An. The rice fields lie empty in the winter months and only small plots of land close to homes are planted with vegetables. Canon EOS 30D, 17-40mm f4 lens.
